The first half was a very cagey affair with both teams unable to break the defence. Raiders were very organised at the back, however RJC stepped things up in the second half and they were rewarded for their efforts with a well-worked team goal.

The ball was switched from the left-hand side from Joe Jordan to Alex Chenroff. The right-back surged forward before releasing his brother, Ben, who cut inside and smashed a brilliant left-footed curler into the net from 25 yards.

RJC boss Sam Rank told JC Sport: "The boys have been brilliant since I have taken over here.

"They work for me and each other and the commitment, passion and attitude from the boys is just amazing. They deserved to win this cup final.

"It's an honour for such a great club to win this competition, and for me to be involved – it would not have been possible without the backroom team of Richard Bronizte and Jon Jacobs."

Rank is confident the cup final success can be the launchpad to bigger and better things next season. "I really believe wining this completion and our second half of the season form will be a great platform for RJC B team to win the Division One title next season," he said.

"Lastly, a big thank you to David Wolff and his team who putting on a great competition."

NLR boss Dan Levy told JC Sport: "We were disappointed with the result. It was a tight game with few chances won by a great curling effort that deserved to be the winning goal.

"Redbridge edged the game but there was very little in it. I can't fault our guys for their effort but their younger legs gave them the edge and just prevented us from playing as well as we would have liked."
